Certifications

Certification is so important. Karen Fazio holds four distinguished certifications: Certified Dog Behavior Consultant, Fear Free Professional - Level 2 (veterinary level), Fear Free Professional - Level 3 (veterinary level) and Elite Fear Free Professional. Being able to provide proof of certification is something certified trainers are so very proud to offer to anyone who asks them for it. If your trainer gets insulted when you ask them for proof, chances are they're not certified at all. 

There's not shortage of inexperienced individuals in the pet industry who claim to be certified dog trainers, behaviorists or consultants. The worst offenders are those who certify themselves or their employees ... many of whom may end up harming your pet psychologically or physically.

Pet owners can be intimidated by their television advertising, brand name, size or popularity and mayy get lured into placing their pets into the hands of those who are poorly educated. It's quite easy to find true certified professionals by requesting proof of their certification as well as  by contacting their certifying body to confirm their status.
